1) Gas prices. Just check this out:
2) Sonia Gandhi taking her name out for Prime Minister of India.
1. This is the point at which I'm almost ready for a government-regulated gasoline industry. Oil companies are claiming that they're just "selling for cost", but it's absolutely absurd to think that it's true considering the price of crude oil hasn't changed significantly in the past 3 months. So why this sudden boom in prices? Sounds a lot like Bush's cronies taking full advantage of an oil-hungry upper echelon (here's lookin at you, cheney). IS there any pressure coming from the Republican sides or even our dear President? Not enough, I'd say. There's a forward I got today that said that every person receiving it should keep from pumping gas on Wednesday. I think I can do that, even if it's not enough people who got that forward. Who knows. I'm pissed and I'm being rash.
2. When a person wins 70% of the popular vote in a country of 1.1 billion, you'd think that he/she would want to go through with the promises kept to those millions, correct?
Apparently not in the case of Sonia Gandhi. Though she won in a landslide and a lopsided one at that, and it seemed that the Gandhi name would be restored to a country that needed some sense of self once again. Instead, it looks like the country is going to be going to Manmohan Singh, a person who - although I know very limited information about- I do admire because of his economic liberation package which created an 8% increase in Indian GDP in the past 3 years. Plus, stocks rose today as Gandhi's name was rescinded.
What the hell's going on in both of my countries????
