Wanna see some work in action? I found a PHP script that recurses directories and gets whatever is in there. Then, it creates webpages for each .jpg that's in there and even comes up with a thumbnails page. The most exciting thing however is that it's much more customizable than many of the other scripts I've found out there. So, wanna see some work in action? This is partially what the new My Pics section will be based on within the next week or so..
Test pages
Peace out.. let's hope I can decipher PHP and mix with CSS.

WHEW. Alright, so I finished up the My Bio page and also the main page of the My Pics section. Now to go into EVERY SINGLE PICS PAGE THAT I HAVE. That's right, I have to do every single one. Maybe I can learn some PHP so that I don't have to do such a thing from now on. Sheesh. But alas, 'tis done for tonight. I think I'm going to go read.
I know, I'm fickle. I've already, within the course of an hour, changed colors on the site. It's now a darker blue-green, because I feel that the contrast would make the pictures pop out more. It's still lighter than the dark brown I had before. Don't remember what the other one looked like? Since you reeeeealllly care, here's the old one:

Hey hey hey!! I did it! It took about a day or so, but I got the new design up. Very happy. My fave parts are the rotating header image (that's right, refresh the page and a new image pops up) and the poinsettia and holly. (Poinsettia at the top, holly at the bottom right of the page.) Other than that it's all details, although it took for stinkin' ever. The worst part was understanding the float:left float:right parts of CSS. It really is very simple, but I had probs. Thankfully Casey and Tim helped me out. Although the bastard Casey just pointed me to different sites.
I'll kick him where it hurts. Arr.
I've also decided that if you have a resolution lower than 1024x768, you don't deserve to see my site. I tried it on 800x600 (because Angel has that rez for GOD knows what reason) and it looks like crap. But you know what? I DONT CARE!! WOOHOO!
And I'm out. Now to convert the my pics page.. the profile page.. still quite a bit of work to do.

Alrighty. Good news and bad news. Good news: I think I finally have the design I want for my new vinoj.com site. It's gonna be a bluish color to give it a fresh and 'cool' feel to it, and the entire code will be written in CSS, making it pretty clean and easy for me to work with, and completely cross-browser compatible. (What does it mean to the average IE user? Absolutely nothing. But hey, it's a nerdy web developer thing. Gotta do it.)
Bad news: I have no idea how to do CSS2. At least the strict configuration of it all. csszengarden.com is going to be my closest ally through all of this, and i'll be trying to emulate all the code that I can find. It shouldn't become a project where I just copy/paste (where's the learning in that?), but I'll be relying heavily on other people, including my friends Casey and Jeff Clark. They're badass.
If you want to see the new design, it's at http://vinoj.com/images/web4.jpg .
The other strenuous task? Trying to get all the pages converted over to the new design. Since it's my own damn site and I don't have worry about a slew of visitors, I'm just gonna do the front page, then the other pages as I get time. No hurry here.
